LA SAGA DI COLLEDORO

È il giorno del grande discorso del “Presidente” e il popolo è stato riunito per l’occasione con tutta la pomposità che merita il caso. Mr. President commuove la sua gente con le ragioni del cuore e la convince con quelle del cervello: “Siamo minacciati da strani esseri che vogliono ridurci in povertà derubando i nostri risparmi. La crisi ci impone di correre ai ripari: custodire la nostra Grana nel grande caveau di questa nuova banca è pertanto una vera questione di vita o di morte!”
Affidargli il proprio capitale sembra essere così l’unica prospettiva possibile per ottenere la felicità.
Ma una volta raccolta la Grana cosa rimarrà del copioso “bottino”? Che prezzo ha l’illusione della ricchezza e la bramosia di poterla raggiungere facilmente? Ancora una volta la paura costringe l’uomo ad ingannare se stesso e il prezzo di una falsa serenità passa ancora dal sacrificio dei più deboli.

In questa metafora sulla ricchezza e sull’uso improprio del denaro nella società di oggi, un gruppo di dieci ragazzi down e tre bambini rivela, grazie a un semplice ma potente linguaggio grottesco, come sia facile cadere nei tranelli dei potenti che vogliono omologare i nostri desideri e che sotto i nostri occhi continuano a venderci, come ripetute incarnazioni del Gatto e della Volpe, facili ricette per raggiungere la felicità.

It is the day of the great speech of the “President” and the people have been gathered for the occasion with all the pomposity that the case deserves. Mr. President moves his people with the reasons of the heart and convinces them with those of the brain: “We are threatened by strange beings who want to reduce us to poverty by stealing our savings. The crisis forces us to take cover: keeping our Grana in the great vault of this new bank is therefore a real matter of life and death!”
Entrusting him with one’s capital seems to be the only possible perspective to obtain happiness.
But once the Grana has been collected, what will remain of the copious “booty”? What is the price of the illusion of wealth and the desire to be able to reach it easily? Once again, fear forces man to deceive himself and the price of a false serenity still passes through the sacrifice of the weakest.

In this metaphor about wealth and the improper use of money in today’s society, a group of ten Down syndrome kids and three children reveal, through a simple but powerful grotesque language, how easy it is to fall into the traps of the powerful who want to homologate our desires and who, before our eyes, continue to sell us, like repeated incarnations of the Cat and the Fox, easy recipes for achieving happiness.
